| This might not be what you’d expect me to say, when I’m trying to drum up interest in the upcoming Hive Live Data Conference on 2nd October, but… It’s OK to say “no”! Life can be full-on sometimes (or most of the time?) – it can feel like there’s always something new to learn, new ideas, new approaches, new things to implement. And not nearly enough time. I often say, in relation to data protection, we should “start with purpose“, but it’s good advice for life in general too. So whenever I’m considering if I want to attend an event, in-person or online, I think about the purpose of the event, and whether it will support my own purpose. The purpose of the event might not always be immediately obvious. For example, there are events I’ll go to regardless of the agenda, because I know I’ll meet people who inspire me and who I enjoy spending time with – good for the soul, and good for my brain. On the other hand, there are some events that on the surface seem to be full of value, judging by the number and calibre of presentations and speakers, but they can feel overwhelming. It can be too much, trying to take it all in, absorb everything and choose what to see and – by default – which sessions to miss out on. Which is why I believe the Hive Live is such a fantastic event, because for me (and others) it aligns so well with my own purpose. I’ll be surrounded by people who inspire me, and I love being around, and every session will include actionable insights, that help to solve problems, not cause more. Some of last year’s feedback included: “brilliant event, really well organised and was lovely to meet like minded people” “Excellent venue and a good sized group which allowed for relaxed and inclusive discussions.” “Loved the event and would love to attend again…I’d definitely recommend it too. Thank you both for a great day.” So, if that sounds like something that will help you fulfil your purpose, follow this link to see all the details and purchase a ticket: https://cpdataprotection.com/hive-live/ before MONDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER 2024!
